Chief Operating Officer
Peggy Sheng currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of CAIPA. She joined the physician-member organization in 1995. During her tenure of over 20 years, CAIPA has flourished into a strong organization with over 1,000 providers serving over 500,000 Asian-American residents in the greater New York area. Peggy oversees all contract negotiations, quality and utilization management, and network development functions.
In addition to building CAIPA as a model IPA by its peer, Peggy was instrumental in establishing CAMS-CAIPA Community Service Fund to encourage the development and improvement of existing, culturally competent, community-oriented service programs as well as research and educational projects that benefit the Asian-American communities of New York. Furthermore, Peggy spearheaded CAIPA to sponsor the CAIPA Foundation, Inc. which is funded by donations from our physicians-members to offer assistance to older adults who can benefit physically, mentally and socially from social daycare centers. Thus, the Foundation formed CAIPA Social Daycare Centers (SDCs) with the mission of offering older adults a holistic approach to improve and maintain a healthy and independent lifestyle and to maximize their quality of life. Our SDCs are located in the Sunset Park and Bensonhurst, the Chinese neighborhoods of Brooklyn.
Prior to joining CAIPA, Peggy was a paralegal at a prominent law firm in Chinatown, Gim & Wong, P.C. She specialized in immigration and general business transactions. In her multifaceted career, Peggy worked a few years for the NYC Consumer Affairs advocate for consumer rights. She graduated from Baruch College with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Human Resources Management, and received her Paralegal Certification from Baruch College.
